Fall Fun 2013, Part II

The Fall fun continues!

We went to the Eye Spy Train at Cabin John this year with our buddies Jace and Beth. The kids loved it!

I did a Halloween-themed storytime at Fenton Street Market. Afterwards, the kids went trick or treating at the vendor booths. We did this last year, too, and I love it!

We made Q-tip skeletons as our craft at storytime. The kids were surprisingly enthusiastic about making these.

Marino enjoying his candy.

I really love this picture of Marino and his buddies.

This market day was also Volunteer Day in the County, so some volunteers coordinated decorating Halloween bags for Meals on Wheels deliveries. Marino was very serious about his. I thought this was such a great idea!

Marino and I got to ring the opening bell for the Market!  Apparently the bell was too loud for Marino.

Hanging out with my buddy, Uli.

After lunch in Silver Spring, we headed to the National Air and Space Museum for Air and Scare
The boys were very excited to meet a pilot.

Meeting "Dark Vader" (Darth Vader)

Marino and I went on a 3 mile hike at Seneca Creek State Park. It took us about an hour and 45 minutes. Marino complained a bit, but he did well. We even ran parts of the trail. His favorite part was seeing a dead crow that had been partially eaten so its bones were exposed.

The colors were gorgeous!

Skipping rocks

We've been enjoying the season!

Siena's 3rd Birthday

This precious girl right here turned 3 at the end of October.  I just love her.
Cat and Siena - sweet sisters!
Gramma Bev and baby sis Alana
Keeping with tradition, Siena's birthday party was again at Etsch Farms. They do an awesome job with parties and the place itself is beautiful. Somehow, each year the weather is great for Siena's day. Since her birthday is so close to Halloween, this year the kids were invited to wear costumes to the party. Marino loves any chance to dress up, so he was excited!

There was a pinata (which Marino had a difficult time pronouncing; he was cracking us up)
Pony rides

Hayrides/snuggle time with parents
Cupcakes and birthday songs
And of course, we all got lost in the corn maze!

Beautiful day with our beautiful friends. What more can we ask for?

Fenton Street Market

(skipping around a bit in terms of chronology)
On Saturday we headed over to Fenton Street Market for storytime and trick or treating.
I love doing story time, and this one was especially fun, because I love Halloween and the kids were very enthusiastic about the stories.
Our buddies Uli and Aaron, ready for storytime
Telling spooky tales

Sharing is caring
My friend Erin and her youngest, Chase.
All the vendors had candy for the kids - most seemed to get a kick out of seeing the kids in their costumes
Emilia, Marino and Grayson
Emilia and her sweet mom, Yvette, crafting. I had reflective Halloween necklaces for the kids to make.
We got very lucky - it was a beautiful day (high 60s, sunny). Literally, the calm before the storm...we may not have Halloween here in Maryland, depending on how hard Hurricane Sandy hits us (its not looking good). So at least we got a chance to use Marino's costume and go trick or treating.

Halloween

Monday after work, the three of us headed to Virginia to spend Halloween with our buddies Jen, Matt, Sydney and Noah. We went trick or treating with them last year and had a great time, so we knew this year would be just as fun. The kids remembered Halloween from last year so they were VERY excited for trick or treating.
How cute are these kids? Check out Sydney's heels! She walked in those all night.

Noah did not want to wait to enjoy his treats!
Oh, I love this face. She's too adorable!
Ready for Halloween fun
Jen's family
Our family (Evan and I have pockets full of candy)

After every house, Marino would say "I want to do that again!"
Enjoying the scenery...
Checking out some eyes in a tree
The infamous "scary house". Marino has been talking about this for a year. We stepped inside and he immediately announced "I want to go home!" Evan and I enjoyed it!
Checking out an static skull

Back at Jen's, ready to eat pizza. These two love each other!
Sydney told Jen "I love having Marino here" and Marino said "I want to stay here. I don't want to go home."
"Oh, you want to live with Jen and Sydney"
::nods head::
"Jen will make you use the potty."
"NOOO, I don't want to" Marino yelled.
"We have diapers, Mino" Sydney offered.
I love them!!

Hope everyone had a wonderful Halloween!
